Salary Range:  AH-01C: $26.06 - $28.53 - $31.45

Position may be located in either of our three campuses:  NEWARK, NEW BRUNSWICK or Stratford.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a high school diploma and be certified by the N.J. Police Training Commission. Must pass N.J. State Police background investigation and psychological test, be a U.S. Citizen, and have a valid driver’s license. Candidates must pass a physical examination to determine their fitness to perform the duties of a Police Officer. Must be able to be commissioned as a police officer under the New Jersey Statute 18:A and authorized to enforce Title 2C and Title 39 by training and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of a sergeant, is responsible for providing assistance and protection to persons and property in and about UMDNJ-owned or leased buildings and grounds in accordance with the Public Safety Department’s rules and regulations. Enforces New Jersey Statutes and Title 39 Motor Vehicle and Traffic Laws as provided under Title 18:6-4.2.

I get yes and no answers on this question. Does a campus police officer fall under the same age restriction as a municipal police (35)? Thank you.

They are in PFRS yes, if like KEAN where they are PERS then NO.

They can hire you past 35 and put u in PERS.

Did they even hire someone last time they posted this had. I previously saw an ad for a police officer then a sgt.

Kean police officers are in pfrs not pers....

Then how do they hire over 35? because they do....like BCALTRT said I guess?

Same way the Sheriff's Depts do.  They can hire over 35 and just place you in PERS, while everyone under 35 is placed in PFRS when they're hired.

What are some advantages and disadvantages of being in PFRS vs PERS? I could not find anything in the NJ Treasury department website. Thank you.

PFRS has a higher payout and you have to work less years.
